Before leaving her job at Facebook, engineer Frances Haugen used her phone to photograph her computer screen. She took tens of thousands of pages of internal documents, and in 2021 The Wall Street Journal used that material to publish the Facebook Files.

The Social Reckoning tells this story. It was written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, who won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Social Network and who, fifteen years later, returns to Facebook to show what happened next.
