We continue with our cycle on journalism in this Programmed by ... SPIB.
This time we will screen the ironic Primera Plana (Billy Wilder, 1974), one of the director's last films.
Chicago, 1929. Earl Williams, convicted of the murder of a policeman, waits in jail for the moment of his execution. Meanwhile, in the press room of the Supreme Court, a group of journalists await clemency or confirmation of the sentence. Hildy Johnson, the Chicago Examiner event writer, who would have to cover the information, is about to marry and quit her job; but Walter Burns, the Machiavellian editor of the newspaper, determined to retain him, will try to prevent his wedding by all means.
It will be presented by Víctor Malagón, a member of the SPIB, who says that the film is "a parody of the acid journalistic profession and without concessions."
The session will be on Thursday 04-22-2021 at 7:45 p.m.
Tickets will cost € 6 for Ordinary and € 4 for CineCiutat members. You can reserve them in the following link.
