III FESTIVAL D'ALTRES CINEMES
III FESTIVAL D'ALTRES CINEMES
27 September 2023

The Festival d'Altres Cinemes (FAC) returns for its third edition and CineCiutat will be one of its venues. From Thursday 28th September to Saturday 30th September, the FAC will once again bring us a selection of films that will open our eyes to other realities. If in the previous events the FAC had focused on the richness of the diversity of the African continent, in 2023 they expand their focus globally in search of different experiences of defense of territory and bodies, care or healing. More specifically, the theme will revolve around women who defend their territories and the sustainability of life.

On Thursday 28th September we will have the opening day, entitled They put their bodies to defend our planet. There are two activities included: the screening of the documentary The Illusion of Abundance, about the fight in the global South against extractive companies; followed by a round table with feminist activists Yessica Trinidad and Ana María Hernández. Tickets are sold out for both events.

On Friday 29th September we will host a more than interesting programme, which has been titled Digitalize my soul: digital bodies and territories. It will consist of, first, the screening of the Basque medium-length film focused on the elderly Cuerdas (Estíbaliz Urresola, 2022). It will be followed by a conversation with the journalist Rosalba Mancinas-Chávez, hardened in a thousand battles in the digital environment with her feminist perspective. Finally, we will see Beans, a Canadian film that will transport us to the indigenous uprising that tore Quebec in 1990 from the perspective of a Mohawk teenager.

Tickets are free and can be booked from the festival website. For more information, visit festivalaltrescinemes.com
