The International Migrant's Day is celebrated on 18th December. For this reason, on Tuesday 19th December at 5 pm we will host at CineCiutat the screening of the short film Agentes de Cambio, organized by Médicos del Mundo.
The first film by Mallorcan Antonina Obrador, Quest, starring Goya winner Enric Auquer and filmed entirely on the island, hits theatres after its passing through festivals. The team behind the film will present their work and participate in a discussion with the public at the preview that we will hold on Wednesday 29th November at 8 pm.
Every Thursday from 23rd November to 28th December we will go over the filmography of Martin Scorsese with the Scorseseason series. A retrospective of six films which is an illustration that there have been few genres that have resisted the filmmaker, from comedy to musicals and from family films to gangster thrillers.
This coming Thursday 16th November, CineCiutat will host the premiere of the new IB3 documentary, Retrats des del paradís (Portraits from Paradise). Co-produced by La Perifèrica and IB3 and directed by Joan Bonet, Retrats des del paradís takes us back to Mallorca prior to the explosion of tourism through the life and work of photographer Tom Weedon, a pioneer of photography on the island forgotten by history.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the release of The Return of the King, Peter Jackson's iconic fantasy trilogy will be re-released in theatres, in a remastered version and with extended footage.
From 19th to 23rd October at CineCiutat we will have the opportunity to see more than 20 sessions within the 12th edition of the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival, which this year will present its special awards to the filmmakers Isabel Coixet and Susanne Bier, to the director of photography Erik Messerschmidt and the actor Daniel Brühl.
