South African photographer Ernest Cole was the first to expose the horrors of Apartheid to the world. The publication of his book "House of Bondage" led him to exile in New York and Europe for the rest of his life. Raoul Peck recounts his turmoil as an artist and his rage at the silence or complicity of the Western world, as well as how 60,000 negatives of his work were discovered in a Swedish bank vault.
